Passant is a chess themed cafe inspired by mid-century modern design. The name comes from the chess move "en passant," meaning "in passing." The logo represents a pawn as well as two people coming together – a common practice for both playing chess and getting coffee. A checkerboard inspired by 70's pattern design can be seen on both the menu and one of the coasters. The other coaster type uses chess notation as a pattern, placing historical chess matches right under your cup.
